Georgia Society of the
Order of Founders and Patriots of America

Spring Bulletin 2008

On November 3, 2007, the Georgia Society held its annual meeting at the Colonnade
Restaurant in Atlanta. As the members meet so seldom, each was asked to introduce himself and his guest. Deputy Governor James Westlake offered the Invocation and the Pledge of Allegiance to the flag of the United States of America was recited. The following slate of officers
were elected: Charles Hampton, Governor; James Westlake, Deputy Governor; Todd Frary, Secretary; Harold Ford, Treasurer; Geoffrey Oosterhoudt, Registrar.
Shown here are Geoffrey Oosterhoudt (current Registrar for the Georgia Society, but dressed in his SAR uniform) and Governor of the Georgia Society, Charles Hampton. Both attended the battlefield dedication ceremony in Savannah, GA.

Ruth Reddick, past State President of the Sons and Daughters of the Pilgrims and well known historian, spoke on Andrew Jackson, giving the listeners a new perspective on the life of one of the movers and shakers in American history and a former President of the United States.
Other activities by the society included three dedication ceremonies by Governor Hampton who laid wreaths on June 2, 2007 at the grave of Richard Wood Pendergast in Winder, Georgia and on October 9, 2007 at Battlfield Memorial Park and General Casimir Pulaski’s Monument, both
in Savannah. Governor Hampton also participated in the Massing of the Flags at Annapolis,
Maryland on November 11, 2007.
