Spring 2010 Bulletin
Governor General John M. Bourne traveled to Colorado and met with Colorado Society Associates on Saturday, March 20, 2010 at the University Club in Denver. The purpose of the Governor General‘s trip was to assist the recently chartered Colorado Society in reorganizing and growing its membership. The proceedings included the Pledge of Allegiance, a blessing, a business meeting of the Colorado Society, followed by a luncheon and discussion which was enjoyed by all. After the luncheon the Governor General swore in the newly elected society officers and presented them with the Colorado Society Charter. Society officers include: Governor Robert J. Walcott of Lakewood; Secretary/Treasurer David M. Barbour of Highlands Ranch; and Registrar Gary E. Parrott of Grand Junction.
The reorganization, prompted by a renewed interest in the Colorado Society and the Governor General’s enthusiasm and encouragement, was attended by four prospective Associates, who are excited about the joining the Order. In addition, three other prospective Colorado Associates have recently submitted applications. In discussing the future of the Colorado Society, one unanimously endorsed objective is the establishment of an annual award to a distinguished graduating cadet at the U. S. Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, similar to OFPA programs already in existence at West Point and the Naval Academy.
