Spring 2011 Bulletin
Members from several of the major hereditary societies from around the State of Texas converged on San Antonio, the Alamo City, on October 16, 2010, to attend the Annual Texas Hereditary Societies' Weekend, a tradition for associates of the Texas Society OFPA, Texas Society of Colonial Wars, Sons of the Revolution in the State of Texas, Texas Society of the War of 1812 and The Texas Branch of the Royal Society of St. George.
The represented societies held business meetings throughout the day, enjoyed a joint luncheon with the ladies and then held an elegant formal banquet at the Doubletree Hotel of San Antonio.
The banquet master of ceremonies was Colonel Joseph M. Ware, Past Governor of the Texas Society of Colonial Wars and the banquet speaker was immediate-Past President General Edward Franklyn Butler of The Sons of the American Revolution, who gave a most interesting account of his travels across the U.S. while serving as President General of the hereditary society with the greatest number of members in the country. Accompanying his talk was a slide presentation of the many interesting places that he and his wife, Robin, visited during his reign as President General.
