Fall Bulletin 2006

(L-R) Cadet Hayes and NV Gov. Brian Worcester

This year our annual meeting was jointly held with the Northern Chapter NV-SAR and the Nevada SUVCW in Reno. We purposely plan our meetings to coincide with other societies of common interest, to maintain a good relationship and provide support toward our common goals.

For the 13th time presented the Order’s award to the Outstanding R.O.T.C Cadet at the University of Nevada-Reno. This year the presentation was to Cadet Hayes R Wilson by our Governor Brian I. Worcester.

Because of the small presence of the National Guard in Nevada, the award to the Outstanding National Guard Unit is made at irregular times. The 8th presentation of this ROTC award was to Denisse Ramos at the University of Nevada-Las Vegas. For the 4th time two awards were presented at the University of Idaho-Moscow, to Midshipman Nicholas Anderson and Cadet Erin C. Flahive We are very proud to support the ROTC programs is these two states. We also make an annual gift to the Reno Family History Center, for books to make research material available to all visitors.

Fall Bulletin 2003

The year 2003 was a banner milestone for the Nevada Society supporting the ROTC programs providing the Superior Achievement ROTC Cadet/Midshipman awards at the University level.

For our tenth year Councillor General for Nevada, J B Coats made the presentation to Cadet Kimberly Van Houten upon the recommendation of LTC Paul M Keith, Army ROTC Professor of Military Science at the University of Nevada, Reno.

For our fifth year at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas / Community College of Southern Nevada the award  was presented to Cadet Pennie Steenholdt by Major Patricia Bodin upon recommendation of Major Ross Bryant, Army ROTC Assistant Professor of Military Science.

For our FIRST time at the University of Idaho, Boise, we sponsored two awards.  The first award went to Army ROTC Cadet Barbara Kaye as recommended by LTC Roger Arnzen.  The second award went to Navy Midshipman Nicolette Mikesell as recommended by LT Joel Feldmeier.

Until a Society is formed in Idaho, we have made the arrangements to support the two awards at that University.  Perhaps this may stimulate an effort to form a new society there. We will continue with the two awards at UNR and UNLV in Nevada.
