Fall Bulletin 2007
The Kentuckiana Society of The Order of Founders and Patriots of America met on Saturday, June 30. Dr. Jack J. Early, Governor, presided and The Prayer of the Order was given, followed by the Pledge of Allegiance.Reports were given by Dan Klinck, Secretary; William Schrader, Treasurer; and Dennis Babbitt, Registrar. One prospective member, Charles Hyde, was introduced by the Registrar.
Governor Early asked the members to introduce themselves with the naming of their founders and patriots used for membership in OFPA.
Dennis Babbitt reported that ROTC Awards had been made at Ball State University in Indiana and Indiana University this year. He also reported that Terry Brown had presented an ROTC Medal ‘ at the University of Louisville. Jack Early reported that an ROTC Medal had been presented at the University of Kentucky.

Plans are underway to present the National Guard Certificate to Major General Donald Storm of the Kentucky National Guard in Frankfort. It was announced that Governor General Michael Phelps would meet with the Kentuckiana Society on Tuesday, August 14.
Following a delicious luncheon, Governor Early introduced Dr. William Schrader, professor Emeritus at Memphis State University and a dual member of the Kentuckiana Society and Virginia Societies of OFPA, who delivered an outstanding address on “The Calvert Family in Virginia and Maryland.”

The Kentuckiana Society of The Order of The Founders and Patriots of America met on Saturday, June 3rd, 2006 at the beautiful Pendennis Club. The Rev. Dr. Jack J. Early opened the meeting with the members offering The Prayer of the Order and the Pledge of Allegiance.
One-half of the membership was present as Governor Early reported on the 110th General Court held in Savannah, Georgia. The minutes were approved and Duane Cornell, Treasurer, reported that all bills had been paid and we had a positive balance.
The Registrar, Dennis Babbitt, gave a brief summary of new members and materials that had been sent to Hayden Fuller, a prospective member.
During the business session, a Nominating Committee was appointed and the members voted to contact the University of Kentucky and Ball State University in Indiana about awarding ROTC Medals in 2007. Also, it was approved that we purchase an Indiana Flag for the General Court. Earlier, Governor Jack Early had purchased a Kentucky Flag in honor of his brother, LTC Joseph Derwood Early, who passed away on March 15th, 2004. It was suggested that contacts be made about recognizing the National Guard units in Kentucky and Indiana.
The program was presented by Dennis Babbitt, Registrar, who discussed the ROTC awards made at Indiana University and the University of Louisville.

Governor Early introduces Mr. and Mrs. Ron Bryant, featured speaker |
The Kentuckiana Society of the OFPA met on Saturday, June 4th, 2005 at the Pendennis Club. Dr. Jack J.
Early, Governor, presided at the meeting with the associates joining in the Prayer of the Order, followed by
the Pledge of Allegiance.
Governor Early gave a brief report on the 109th General Court held in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Reports
were given, including the Treasurer’s Report by Duane Cornell, Treasurer and Past Governor.
The Registrar, Dennis Babbitt, reported on new applications and the presentation of two new members,
Terry Brown and James Hancock, who were attending their first meeting of the Kentuckiana Society.
During the business meeting, Governor Early said that he was purchasing a Kentucky state flag in memory of
his brother, LTC Joseph Derwood Early, for the General Society. Several members from Indiana indicated they
would work on purchasing an Indiana state flag.

A committee was appointed to provide ROTC Awards and a National Guard Award.
Governor Early introduced two special guests, Jane Bryant, wife of the speaker, and Dr. Ron Bryant. Dr.
Bryant, Historian for the Kentucky State Park System, gave an excellent address on the subject, “The
Legacy of Our Founders.” He stressed the contributions of George Washington, Thomas Jefferson,
Alexander Hamilton, and Benjamin Franklin. The meeting was closed with a prayer by Governor Early.

The Kentuckiana Society of The Order of
the Founders and Patriots of America held a joint luncheon meeting
with the Kentuckiana Society of The National Society of the Daughters of the Founders and Patriots of
America on Saturday, October 2, 2004 at the historic Pendennis Club, Louisville, Kentucky.
Each organization conducted a
separate business session with Mrs. N.J. White, President, and Dr. Jack J.
Early, Governor, presiding at their respective meetings.
The luncheon meeting began with the
unison Prayer of the Order and the Pledge of Allegiance. Dr. Jack J.
Early, Governor of the Kentuckiana Chapter, delivered an address on the First Cabinet of the
United States.
He pointed out that there were four members of the Cabinet, namely, the Secretary of War, Henry
Knox; the Secretary of the Treasury, Alexander Hamilton; the Secretary of State, Thomas Jefferson; and
the Attorney General, Edmund Randolph.
The meeting closed with prayer.

The Spring meeting of the Kentuckiana Society was held at the Pendennis Club in Louisville, Kentucky on
May 15, 2004. The business meeting began with The Prayer of The Order. Dr. Jack J. Early, Governor, called on
the members to introduce themselves, giving both the names of their founders and patriots.
The Kentuckiana Society has sixteen members and half of the members were in attendance.
Mr. N.J. White, founder Registrar
who had served for six years had notified Governor Early that he was resigning his position. A motion
was made to accept his resignation with sincere appreciation for his service to the Society. Mr. Dennis
Babbitt was elected Registrar of the Kentuckiana Society.
One of the primary topics was the development
of strategies to secure new members. At the present time, current members will visit with four prospects
who are eligible for membership.
Governor Early conducted a Memorial Service
for his brother and associate, Lt. Colonel Joseph Derwood Early who passed away on March 15, 2004.

The Kentuckiana Society held its Annual Fall Meeting at the historic Pendennis Club in Louisville, KY on
September 20th, 2003. After the luncheon the business meeting was held beginning with the ritual. Membership was
the main topic of conversation. There are three gentlemen currently working on their application papers.
After general remarks, Governor Duane Cornell thanked the members and officers for their support and hard work.
The installation of new officers followed. The newly elected Society Governor is Dr. Jack J. Early of
Louisville. After the welcome and introductions Dr. Early entertained a motion that former state governor Cornell
be made the honorary state governor. Thanks were offered for his two terms in office and the fine work with
respect to membership in the Commonwealth of Kentucky.
A rousing vote of confidence was made toward the motion. Dr. Early then gave the benediction and dismissed the
group for the rest of the fall afternoon.
