Any man of the age of eighteen years, of good moral character and reputation and a citizen of the United States.

Who is lineally descended in the male line of either parent, from an ancestor who settled in any of the Colonies now included in the United States of America prior to 13 May 1657.
Background


During the first half of the 17th century, a great migration of colonists set out from Europe to seek freedom in a new land. In tiny ships they crossed the gray Atlantic to carve out settlements on the east coast of what is now the United States.

The historic and centrally-located Union League Club will be the site of the 116th General Court when it convenes in Chicago, Illinois, on Friday, May 25, 2012. The only other General Court held in Chicago was back in 1927 so all Associates should be looking forward to this one as a very special and memorable occasion.
Thursday, 24 May 2012:
8:45 am to 4:30 p.m.- Optional guided three and a half hour group bus tour of “Al Capone’s Chicago”, followed by box lunch at the Chicago History Museum, a 1-hour Guided Curator’s Tour, 1.5 hours to browse the museum on your own, then back to the Union League Club via taxi. The motorized tour bus will pick up participants at the Union League Club and, after the bus tour, drop them at the Chicago History Museum at 1:00 pm for lunch. After the Curator’s Tour and Self-Guided Tour, participants will return to the ULCC via taxi. All of the foregoing costs (including taxi fare) are included. Separate advance reservations required.
6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. - Registration and informal hosted cocktail reception in the French Room of the Union League Club of Chicago. (Attire: informal; coat and tie optional).
NOTE: Volunteers are needed Thursday evening to assemble flags for General Court meetings on Friday.
Friday, 25 May 2012:
9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. - Meeting of the John Quincy Adams Foundation. **
10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m - Meeting of the Executive Council. **
10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon - Registration outside the French Room.
12:00 noon to 1:30 p.m - Associates and their guests on their own for lunch.
1:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. - Opening session of 116th General Court *(Attire: coat & tie).
9:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. - Ladies Program: Guided tour of Art Institute of Chicago (111 S. Michigan Ave., Chicago; 312- 857-7100). Lunch provided at the museum for those on tour. Lunch for Associates will be on their own Fri. & Sat.
6:00 p.m. - Dinner at world-famous Berghoff Restaurant.

Saturday, 26 May 2012:
9:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. - Second session of 116th General Court** (Attire: coat & tie).
10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon - Ladies on their own for shopping or "whatever".
11:40 a.m. - Official photograph of 116th General Court (location: French Room); (Attire: coat & tie).
Noon to 1:00 p.m - Associates and Guests on their own for lunch; light fare suggested due to hearty banquet in the evening.
1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m - Guided bus tour of Chicago [pickup in front of the Union League Club at 12:55 pm; bus leaves promptly at 1:05 pm.]
6:15 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. - Governor General’s Reception [Heritage Room, Union League Club].
7:00 p.m - Procession of State Flags of all State Societies attending the General Court [Heritage Room].
7:30 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. - Banquet in Heritage Room of the Union League Club; jazz band; built-in dance floor. (Attire: white tie or black tie, with decorations).
NOTE: Volunteers are needed Saturday evening to disassemble the flags and pack them for shipment to the next General Court.
Sunday, 27 May 2012:
10:00 a.m. Church service at Grace Episcopal Church
(637 S. Dearborn St., Chicago; 312-922-1426) (Attire: coat & tie). Those who wish to walk the 5 block (0.4 mile) to the church may do so (as a group or otherwise). Those who wish to share taxis to the church may take that option. After the service we hope to have a tour of the church.
** All business meetings of the 116th General Court will be in the French Room of the historic Union League Club (65 W. Jackson Street, Chicago, IL; phone 312-427-7800). NOTE: the Saturday evening cocktail reception and banquet, both will be in the Heritage Room of the Union League Club.
