The 115th General Court of the Order of the Founders and Patriots of America will take place in New York City on Memorial Day Weekend 2011 (May 26-29, 2011). The business meetings will take place at historic Fraunces Tavern, where General George Washington said goodbye to his fellow officers on December 4, 1783. The Order has arranged for a group rate discount of only $239/night (+ tax) at the brand new Doubletree NYC Financial District, 8 Stone Street, less than three blocks from from Fraunces Tavern and only about a three-minute walk from the location of our Saturday banquet at India House.


Thursday, May 26, 2011:
The Order will host an informal welcoming cocktail reception (suit and tie for men and cocktail dresses for the ladies) at India House (One Hanover Square; telephone 212-269-2323) from 6:30 pm to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 26, 2011.

Optional Bus Tour of Historic New York Sites:
There will also be an optional bus tour of the historic Revolutionary War related sites of interest at various locations in Manhattan and Brooklyn, including the Hessian Huts, Fort Washington, Morris Mansion, the Old Stone House, and Battle Hill. The cost of the optional Thursday tour is $125.00 per person, which includes all transportation and entrance fees to the historic sites.


Friday, May 27, 2011:
The opening session of the General Court will convene from 1:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Friday, May 27, 2011 in the Flag Gallery Room of Fraunces Tavern, 54 Pearl Street, New York. All meetings of the General Court will be held in that same room, located on the Second Floor of Fraunces Tavern. Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. while the Associates are occupied by the General Court and related meetings, a tour of lower Manhattan and a lunch are planned for the ladies. That evening registered Associates and their guests will dine at the wonderful Downtown Association Club (60 Pine Street; 212-422-1902).


Saturday, May 28, 2011:
Daytime Activities:
The closing session of the General Court will convene from 9:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, May 28 in the Flag Gallery Room of Fraunces Tavern. During that same time period, the ladies also will be on their own for shopping or museums. At 11:45 a.m., immediately after the conclusion of the General Court, the traditional photo of all General Court participants will be taken at India House (1 Hanover Square). For Saturday lunch, Associates and their spouses are on their own. After lunch, starting at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, Associates and their spouses may take a ferry ride tour of numerous sights of Lower Manhattan.

Evening Activities:
One of the high points of the entire weekend will be the Governor General's Reception, a black tie or white tie affair which takes place in the exquisite India House Restaurant (One Hanover Square, NYC) and which starts at 6:15 p.m. on Saturday, May 28. Then at 7:15 p.m. the Procession of State Flags will commence, followed by the banquet, also at the India House Restaurant. The banquet will feature the customary banquet toasts, annual awards, Governor General's remarks, and dancing to the music of an outstanding local dance band. This elegant evening will be one to remember!


Sunday, May 29, 2011:
There will be a church service starting at 9:00 a.m. on Sunday morning, May 29 at Trinity Church (74 Trinity Place, NYC; telephone 212-602-0800), a short taxi ride from the hotel. All Associates and their spouses and guests are invited to attend and participate in the services. Following the services, we hope to have a tour of the church.
